Perogies to Go

This lovely lady, in her traditional Ukrainian dress, was filling the orders for frozen perogies and cabbage rolls at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre.  My freezer is now stocked.

Easter Lunch

My Easter lunch (minus the kielbasa that already got eaten).  The perogies had a tender dough shell with the perfect consistency, and a savoury cheesy potato filling. There was also a touch of some kind of spice that I couldn't quite figure out, perhaps paprika. I think they were the best I have had in Victoria yet, and also closest to Baba's own!  Cabbage rolls, also delicious.

Ukrainian Cultural Centre

Today was my first visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, for a Ukrainian Easter lunch.  It did not disappoint!

Perogies of Discontent

Here is a photo of Jack while at the Oakland's Summer Market last July, and eating the Mexicanka perogies from the Hungry Rooster Food Truck.  Unfortunately, Jack waited 40 minutes to get these perogies, therefore too hangry to give a good perogy assessment.

I Love Pierogies

Who Doesn't?!!! T-shirt hanging on the wall in the Taste of Europe Deli.

Taste of Europe Deli

Here is a picture of some cheese and potato pierogies from the Taste of Europe Deli on Douglas St. in Victoria.  They were very tasty indeed.  The filling was creamy and cheesy, and the dough was just the right thickness while soft and a bit chewy.  The dill on top added some nice flavour. Almost like Baba used to make!
